National Fitness Day

Today was national fitness day. There are lots of ways to keep fit on the unit such as using our gym, yoga, table tennis, playing basketball in the courtyard or football in the garden. There are also subtle ways to exercise such as gardening or enjoying a walk through the woods. We surveyed young people and staff about how we participate in fitness now and what we might like to try in the future.



What we do now:

  • weights (x3)

  • boxing

  • pilates (x2)

  • squats (x2)

  • HIIT

  • adding extra walking onto journeys instead of staying on the bus/train

  • gardening (x2)

  • cycling (x3)

  • football (x2)

  • cold swimming

  • yoga (x2)

  • basketball

  • speed walking between places

  • gym

  • running (x2)


What we would like to try:

  • kick boxing (x3)

  • krav maga (x2)

  • karate

  • tai chi (x2)

  • I'm open to anything!

  • restorative yoga

  • rowing on nice, calm water through mountains

  • rowing

  • gymnastics (x2)

  • parkour

  • swimming

  • paddle boarding

  • rock climbing

  • basketball

  • kayaking
