Online Safety Provision

In Simmons House Classroom we think it's imperative that young people know how to use the internet safely.

We encourage young people to participate in a variety of online safety curriculum

All young people from Simmons House Classroom leave with an AQA unit award certificate in Internet Safety.

AQA Unit award in 'Using the Internet Safely'

Students receive a certificate in using the internet safely by completing the following outcomes;

Password Security

Part of the internet safety module involves learning how to develop a secure password, this is something we revisit every time a student makes a new online account.

Online Risk

Our certificates in internet safety require the following objectives to be met.

 

  • Students know what to do if someone online asks to meet in person.

  • Students can list atleast 3 risks associated with posting photographs and videos online.

  • Students will be able to define at least two aspects of laws regarding sexting.

  • Identify three organisations that can help with online safety

Safer Internet Day

2024

Each year we participate in Safer Internet day, holding activities to encourage young people to engage in their how their online presence could be made safer.

As part of the 2023 event we checked our password strengths using a certified password checker... we got pretty competitive about it!

Online Safety Policies and Protocols

As part of Haringey Learning Partnership, the classroom at Simmons House shares the policy and governance structure of HLP.​ As well as this the classroom at Simmons House shares the unit protocols. The unit protocols are informed by the Whittington Trust Policies.
