World Book Day 2020

After encouragement from a student, teaching staff contacted World Book Day to see if we could get some vouchers like other schools do. It was good news! We gave a voucher for each of the young people so they can go and get themselves or someone else a lovely new book. The only book from the list to catch anyone's eye was Alex Rider. One student suggested having a group outing to the bookstore to see what they could find together. Here are some of our current students' favourite books:

Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell, Gypsy Boy - Mikey Walsh, Northern Lights - Philip Pullman

Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte, Anne of Green Gables - L. M. Montgomery, Heroes - Stephen Fry

Six students answered the week's Votes For Schools Question, "Do you enjoy reading?" with the following results:

YES - and I do it a lot 2/6

YES - but I don't read much at the moment 4/6

NO - but I try to do it anyway 0/6

NO - so I try to avoid it 0/6

We hope World Book Day encourages everyone to give reading a try soon - whether this is a book, kindle, short story, newspaper, graphic novel, playscript, blog, letter, website, poem or anything else. Enjoy!
