Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Celebration

The young people have been creating termly displays for the reception. It started with a Christmas display and the young people campaigned to have it stay post December, agreeing to decorate it with spiritual, moral, social and culturally relevant displays.

So far we have had a Christmas inspired tree, a Chinese New Years display, International Women's Day, Ramadan inspired and most recently a Celtic Tree astrology theme (as found used in the Druid belief system), which linked to our most recent book club - a hidden life of trees. Young people created hanging strips that staff, young people and visitors can interact with to find out which tree they are and what that means!

Our International Women's Day tree was created by one of our young people, she asked other young people who they were inspired by and created individual fact files about different inspiring women. She incorporated statistics linked to women's rights and law and wrote the phrase 'despite the odds, look at what we have achieved'.
