Vocational Studies - MakeUp

We believe it is important for young people to be able to access a curriculum that best meets their needs and aspirations. Over the last year a Year 13 student has worked with different industry professionals to develop her makeup skills and recently achieved a Level 3 AQA Unit Award in Makeup Artistry.

Starting by developing her own goth style and honing the skills for this, she was then able to be encouraged to branch further and further beyond her own style to try out increasingly ambitious and bold looks, different techniques, and a broad range of products, not just on herself but on other models with different faceshapes, skintypes, skintones, and requirements.

As well as makeup skills, communication and confidence have visibly increased, and she was able to teach her own lesson to a staff member and a peer on how to enhance their eyebrows.

Recent lessons have included:

- everyday make up

- Classic smokey eye

- Blue full cut crease

- Purple full cut crease

- Half cut crease

- Gradient shadow

- tiger stripe technique for a tiger themed look

- Drag king contour with powder

- Ageing make up technique

- Playing with colour/glitter to create a cut-crease-style look

- 80s inspired look

- Drag style rainbow eye

And independent study practice of:

- blue glitter smokey eye for cat inspiration

- Practising my everyday-goth look

- Gothic rainbow

- Different brow shapes

- Blending black shadow

- Silver cut crease

We can't wait to see more pictures of this wonderful work.
