15-19 November was Anti-Bullying Week. Obviously EVERY week should be anti-bullying but each year we like a reminder of what bullying is, and that we should all work hard to prevent it. Though there is no legal definition of bullying, here is the Anti-Bullying Alliance’s definition which is the definition we work with in class:
“Bullying is the repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power. It can happen face to face or online.”
The theme of Anti-Bullying Week this year is “One Kind Word” – a reminder that our words can make or break someone’s day. We should all make an effort to choose to say something kind whenever we have the chance.
Odd Socks Day is a visual reminder that it is OK to be odd! It was GREAT to see so many staff and young people getting behind this event. We should all feel able to be ourselves, and express ourselves, even if we are different to other people. Have fun trying to figure out whose feet are whose!
